Christmas Packaging

My house is currently littered with trains, pirates, and candy.

And my son got some cool stuff, too.

My two favorite things found while opening packages: I got my wife a recharging dock for her Ipod that also doubles as a set of speakers, which I thought was a nifty idea. The funny part was the advertising on the package. Three words dominated the box – portable, stylish, audible.

This company really has their finger on the pulse of the average Ipod user. It’s portable, like the ipod. It’s fashionable, and it damn well better be! And oh, by the way, should you actually want to use it instead of just looking cool, it’s also audible! We thought of everything!

And then, on my son’s train set, the engine says DO NOT PLACE NEAR CHILD’S HEAD.

Well what the hell is it going to do to him if I do? Steal his thoughts? I mean, help a dad out here. Apparently whatever it does will injure no part of the body but the head. Perhaps it has a special eye-gouging device, just so I can break out that phrase that every dad who has seen “A Christmas Story” wants to say so badly it hurts:

“HEY, KID! PUT THAT THING DOWN! YOU’LL PUT YOUR EYE OUT!!!”

Merry Christmas, Extrapolater Readers!
