I had a blast live-blogging NCAA tournament games for Awful Announcing yesterday. Well, half a blast. I had the Maryland/Davidson game, which was very exciting and nearly caused me to dislocate a finger trying to keep up.
Then came George Washington/Vanderbilt. The Colonials found every possible way to almost-score. Traveling, shot-clock violations, missed layups. At one point, a shot attempt got stuck between the rim and the backboard. My joke on the live blog was “Kevin Stallings will be taking lunch orders at halftime, because there’s no speech for this situation”. What do you say “OK, fellas, you held them to 13% shooting in the first half, but I want to see SINGLE DIGITS in the second half!”
Anyway, if your team is out of it, or you just need something to read during the next blowout, here are the links of the day:
Melblog wants your story: How do you spend the best two days of the college basketball season?
I love it when I can promote two blogroll homies at the same time. Mike White wrote some love for the Tar Heels on Sports Gone South.
Mike is also currently our leader in the JCMJ sports bloggers’ bracket challenge. At least I’m beating the penny.
Happy day, Auburn fans! You’ve finally won the national championship!
S2N is my main man today for giving props to Scot Pollard (crazy Jayhawk) and Bill Hicks (my favorite comedian). If you hate the drugs, you just aren’t taking enough of them.
I told you about how I wrote a few previews of the tournament for Deadspin last week. While working on those, I discovered an awesome mascot. Meet Izzy the Islander from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
Finally, though I am absent from the afternoon live-blogging lineup today (stupid office work!), I am with my Channel Four News Team compadres in spirit (and in a spare browser window). Join Awful Announcing for today’s spate of live-blogs.
Alright. Now to get in line at the MMOD so I can watch some games and read the live blogs. And work… of course… work.
